Note: Spoilers for Episode 3 of this adventure lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
The third episode concluded with a dramatic pause and revealed the first table of characters who will split off from the central cast to undertake their independent quest, apart from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table features Teor (portrayed by Travis), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
With an extensive roster, it was evident from the outset that keeping everyone at the same party would be impossible.
This explains, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Prelude, connecting the personal journeys before splitting into three separate parties: Warriors, Planners, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for adventurers who prefer a typically action-packed battle-oriented gameplay experience where diplomatic options are few and far between.
Upon first impression, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might look out of place, but the events of the third episode show why these five characters are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the team understands precisely where to proceed after a violent opening clash with the antagonists.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose passing initiated the story’s plot—exploited the enemy for his personal gain, invading the secret base, assaulting the rogue, and stealing all the powerful objects to sell off.
The traitor then settled his liabilities and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, north of the city, with Cyd close behind.
Personal Motivations
Moreover, each adventurer has a personal reason to depart the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as the close ally and trusted friend, desires revenge.
- The adventurer has experience in the northern area and cautions that it is a nasty place.
- The strong character and Wicander, having resisted his house’s orders to kill Teor and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their position as important members in the influential clan could assist the group enter areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, Teor swore a life debt to The cleric for his deliverance and will now go with him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Finally, all of them are sought by the authorities that rule the setting for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally dangerous:
- The rogue and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and The healer turned against the powerful family and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- The target is wanted dead by the family.
This means them no alternative but to head to the northern region in pursuit of the traitor.
